Directions and safety information
IFU-OC04-01 Rev AIntended use: For delivering oxygen through the nostrils.
Size: see the front of the package (Adult, Pediatric or Infant).
Directions
- Connect the tubing to the oxygen source and set the flow rate as directed by a healthcare provider, ensuring oxygen flows from both prongs.
- Position the slide under the chin, loop the harness over the ears, place the soft prongs into nostrils, and gently adjust the slide up until secure, not tight.
- Single patient use: discard after use by one person.
Warnings
- Oxygen makes fire burn faster. No smoking, vaping, open flames or sparks near oxygen.
- Keep oil, grease, aerosol sprays and petroleum products away from the nasal cannula and face.
- Do not sterilize or clean with solutions. Replace if damaged.
- Tubing can be a strangulation hazard. Keep out of reach of children; supervise infants and children using oxygen. For infants and children, a caregiver should fit and monitor the nasal cannula.
More safety tips
- Keep away from open flames and heat sources.
- Route tubing to help prevent tripping and tangling.
- Do not place tubing under bedding, cushions or furniture where it can be pinched.
- A swivel connector (sold separately) can help reduce tangling with longer tubing.
- Check the nasal cannula and tubing before each use. Replace if cracked, stiff, discolored or damaged, or as directed by the oxygen supplier.
- Follow the instructions from the healthcare provider and oxygen supplier.
- (Optional) Keep spare supplies on hand.
